Please meet our athlete of the week, Mwangi Gitahi!
Mwangi is a 45-year old running coach, originally from the Kenyan highlands, now living in New Bedford, MA.
Mwangi competed at the NCAA level, then for four years thereafter, racing everything from the 800m to marathon distance.
Mwangi has coached now for ~10 years, assisting every level of athlete from beginner runners to Boston Marathon qualifiers. In addition to run coaching, Mwangi teaches strength work and injury prevention.
Mwangi’s favorite quote:
“To be successful in sport, it’s not a chance, it’s a choice. If you want to be successful, you need to choose. But to choose well, you must know who you are, and what you stand for. Where you want to go, and why you want to get there.” - Eliud Kipchoge
